Sometimes you may want to change the name that appears for you in your Zoom class, as it sometimes can default to a name like "Jim's iPad" or simply something like "iPhone" when connecting from a specific device. Changing your Zoom name makes it clearer for the instructor and HSP staff in the class to see what people are in class, to help the class feel more personal and connected, and to see who is asking questions, for example.

To change your name in a zoom class on a laptop or computer:

1) While in class, view the class participants videos, and find yourself. If you are viewing the class in Speaker View (shown below), the class participants will be listed in a row at the top of the screen. If you are viewing the class in Gallery View, the users will be listed in a grid that fills up the screen. You will most likely normally be viewing the class in Speaker View.

2) Click the button with the 3 dots in the top corner of your user as shown below.

3) Click on "Rename" from the dropdown menu and rename yourself.

To change your name on a mobile device or tablet:

1) View the toolbar to find the Participants button. If the toolbar is not already visible, tap your screen to make it pop up from the bottom of the screen.

2) Tap the Participants button, and then tap on your user. From the menu that pops up, tap on "Rename"
