Before you begin an online zoom course, we recommend setting up zoom before your first class to avoid any frustration or issues that may come up when initially logging into zoom.
If you plan to access your class from a computer or laptop, you'll first want to download Zoom Client to your desktop using this link: https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting .
If you plan to access your class from a mobile device (a smartphone or iPad), visit the app store on your device, search for Zoom, and then download the Zoom app to your device.
If you do not have a computer or smart device, or do not want to use either of these options, please continue reading to see how to access your class through a call-in, audio-only option.
To access your class on a computer or laptop:
1) Register for your class at the link provided to you by HSP staff. If you are not sure what this link is, please contact us (hspstaff@arizona.edu), and we will provide you with instructions.
2) Click the zoom link found in the confirmation email you received after registration. (It should start with https://arizona.zoom.us). This zoom link is also available on the learning portal.
(If prompted, enter the meeting ID found in your confirmation email)
3) You should be brought to a screen that looks like this:
4) Click "Open Zoom"
- If you have never used Zoom before, you will be prompted to download Zoom to your computer; please do so and follow the prompts on your computer.
- If you would like to be seen and heard during your Zoom meetings, you will need to allow Microphone and Video if prompted as well.
5) You will need to choose if you want to have audio by phone or on your computer.
- If you are not comfortable with your computer's audio or have problems accessing audio, you will need to call in using your cellphone or landline. Zoom gives several options for phone numbers. You will choose the first one on the list, and if that does not work for any reason, choose a different one from the list.
6) You should now be able to access your zoom class.
To access your class on a smartphone or tablet:
1) Register for your class at the link provided to you by HSP staff. If you are not sure what this link is, please contact us (hspstaff@arizona.edu), and we will provide you with instructions.
2) Click the zoom link found in the confirmation email you received after registration. (It should start with https://arizona.zoom.us). This zoom link is also available on the learning portal.
3) If you have the Zoom app downloaded, you will automatically be sent to the meeting, and the system will prompt you on how you want to access meeting audio. If you do not have the app downloaded, you will be prompted to go to your app store to download.
4) The easiest option will be to Call using Internet Audio
5) If you choose Dial in, please follow all prompts on the screen.
6) You will now be connected to the video on your tablet or smartphone.
To access your class by calling in with audio only:
1) On your zoom confirmation notice, you will receive a list of phone numbers to call to connect to the meeting. These phone numbers will also be available on the learning portal under the "Weekly Zoom Link" tab. Please choose the most appropriate for your location.
2) Zoom will ask you for your Meeting ID, which you can find in your zoom confirmation email or on the learning portal (please have this ready and available).
3) Zoom will ask you for a participant ID. This is not necessary and you can press pound (#) on your phone.
4) You will be connected to Zoom audio.
